Dr .Charles Lee is on the front line between climate change and one of the most pristine and least understood places on earth.
Dr. Lee’s early career busted many myths about the nature and behaviour of microbes in Antarctic soil and with them the prevailing belief that the icy continent’s ecosystems were stable and insensitive to environmental change. He is now recognised internationally for his expertise in Antarctic terrestrial ecology and as a leader of major multi-disciplinary research programmes designed to inform environmental management policy and practice for the vast frozen landmass that is an archive of our past, a critical player in our present and vital key to our future.
