Understanding the consumer experience of health care is important to ensure the benefits of the system are fully realised in an equitable way.
Dr Brown’s recent work focuses on the experience of Pasifica women managing breast cancer. The initial studies have developed into two new projects to translate the research findings into community interventions with local Pacifica communities. The end goal is to fully understand the barriers to early cancer detection and improve uptake of radiotherapy and adherence to endocrine therapy following a breast cancer diagnosis.
Previous to this work, Dr Brown helped established a survey tool to help tailor supportive care services for men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
