Dr. Manar Khashram’s dedication to vascular surgery and research is enhancing the management of aortic and vascular disease.
Widely published, Dr. Khasham’s research includes a groundbreaking Metformin Aneurysm Trial, an investigation of genetic aspects of thoracic aortic diseases in Māori and Pacific Island communities, and validation of two decades-worth of New Zealand data on the incidence and outcomes of abdominal aortic aneurysm repair for the Australasian Vascular Audit.
Clinical innovations include a novel method to reduce ‘leak’ from stent grafts, and a pioneering risk model for management of abdominal aortic aneurysms. Dr. Khashram’s work is building a Centre of Excellence at Waikato Hospital, facilitating advancements that benefit patients worldwide.
