In day-to-day lab management and as a champion for her profession, Raewyn Keene goes the extra mile.
Described by colleagues as an unsung hero, Raewyn is a vital cog in the St Paul’s Collegiate science faculty, where she is sole-charge Science Technician supporting a faculty of 16 teaching staff across six departments. Raewyn came to St Paul’s from a similar role at St John’s. As well as keeping labs resourced, training staff and managing OSH requirements, she has contributed greatly to the establishment of agribusiness at St Paul’s. Many of the practicals that she helped create are used by schools across New Zealand. She has also played an important role in the growth of her profession, initiating regional professional development meetings and laying the foundations for the Science Technicians Association of New Zealand, acting as its president from 2004-2009.
